It is undeniable that American popular culture is currently infatuated with all things Black. This holds particularly true to African-American music and the vibrant community which exists around it. Mainstream media frequently presentus with stories about the current trendsetters of the Hip-Hop and R&B world, whether showcasing their impact on fashion and art or detailing their way of life and rise to fame. Unfortunately, the acceptance of African American culture oftenoverlooks the artists who have not only broken barriers through their work, but also continue to be unabashedly dedicated to their art while workingwith, and inspiring a new generation.
